Founded on April 2nd,1967, Udayan is an idea to provide community platform for residents of Alipore and New Alipur for promoting Social cohesiveness and exchange of views. Initially meetings and functions were held at Saraf House and sometimes at Arya House. Thereafter, in 1969, Udayan moved on to its present premises. Udayan is delightfully different from most of the other Institutions. One you step into it, you feel like coming home with so much of bonhomie. Members describe it A HOME AWAY FROM HOME !!!. Here, the children, their parents and even grandparent enjoy the homely atmosphere together.

Members of Udayan are fondly called Udyanite.

Udayan is really a big joint family. Like any other family, members have different likes and dislike. The family has its own moments of sorrow and joy. A void gets created because of the departure of many of our founders and senior members for heavenly abode and also number of members moving out of town. Moments of happiness come with arrival of new generation members who have taken charge and are working hard for the common cause.

Udayan regularly organizes cultural , musical wellness , entertainment, and sports activities for its members and guests. Unlike many Clubs, Udayan is liberal in accepting regular participation by guests. Udyanites firmly believe in

The Founders and past presidents have nurtured Udayan with love, affection, confidence as well enthusiasm. Their small plant has now grown to a large tree of about 450 couple members (comprising around 875 persons).
